What is the use of ‘text to column’ in Excel?

You can use ‘text to column’ to separate data given in single cell into multiple cells. For example, your name ‘Somnath Paul’ is in cell A1. You want first name to be in cell A2 and last name in cell A3. ‘Text to column’ can help you split the data from single cell A1 to two different cells A2 and A3.

Shortcut keys ALT D E opens 'convert text to columns wizard' window. You can find text to columns in data ribbon tab alternatively.
